Silent Hill Isn’t Done: Konami Teases “Second and Third Waves” of New Games

The fog isn’t lifting anytime soon. Konami is already planning the next phases of its Silent Hill revival, and it sounds like the franchise is here to stay.

Just when you thought Konami might retreat back into the shadows after successfully relaunching Silent Hill, the publisher is already thinking years ahead. In a new interview with Famitsu, series producer Motoi Okamoto revealed that Konami is actively planning what he calls “second and third waves” of new Silent Hill games .

The First Wave Is Complete

The initial revival kicked off with a bang in October 2022, when Konami announced three games at once: the Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall . It was a bold statement of intent after nearly a decade of silence, and it worked.

“All three titles we initially announced were able to be released successfully, so we’re relieved,” Okamoto told Famitsu. “They’ve also received high praise, and we are satisfied with it” .

That’s putting it mildly. The Silent Hill 2 Remake alone sold 2.5 million copies, pushing the franchise’s total sales to 10 million worldwide . Silent Hill f added another million to that tally . And Silent Hill: Townfall, which launched just last month to strong reviews, gave the series a fresh shot of credibility with its ’90s Scottish setting .

Why One Remake Was Never Enough

What’s fascinating about Okamoto’s comments is the glimpse into the internal struggle to get this revival greenlit in the first place. After the infamous cancellation of Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills in 2015, the franchise’s reputation was in tatters. Convincing Konami executives to invest in multiple games — rather than just testing the waters with a single remake — was apparently an uphill battle.

“As a producer, I cannot let it end only with that,” Okamoto explained. “If there were only one release, wouldn’t people think that the development is going to be cancelled again, I thought” .

It’s a telling insight into how fragile the Silent Hill brand had become. One game could be dismissed as a fluke. Three games announced simultaneously? That sent a message.

What’s Coming Next

While Okamoto couldn’t share specifics about the second and third waves, we do know at least one major project is already deep in development: Bloober Team is working on a remake of the original Silent Hill . The Polish studio, which also handled the acclaimed Silent Hill 2 Remake, confirmed the project is in full production as of late 2025 .

Rumors suggest the Silent Hill 1 Remake could make an appearance at The Game Awards, with a potential release window of 2027 . If true, that would position it as a flagship title in the “second wave” Okamoto is teasing.

Beyond that, the future is foggy. But the pattern of the first wave — remakes alongside bold new experiments like Silent Hill f and Townfall — suggests Konami is committed to keeping the franchise diverse and unpredictable.

The Bottom Line

After years of dormancy and false starts, Silent Hill is genuinely back. Not as a one-off nostalgia play, but as an ongoing, evolving franchise with a multi-year roadmap. Okamoto’s talk of “second and third waves” isn’t just corporate optimism — it’s a promise that the fog is here to stay.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer drawn in by the recent remakes, the message is clear: Konami isn’t done with Silent Hill. Not by a long shot.
