GTA 6 Is Adding Hard Drug Use to Its Long List of Bad Habits, According to a Leaked Age Rating

Breaking: Rockstar’s next open-world epic just got a lot more explicit — and the ratings board may have spilled the beans.

Well, it wouldn’t be a Grand Theft Auto game without a little controversy, would it?

A freshly surfaced — and promptly deleted — PEGI 18+ age rating for GTA 6 has fans buzzing after it revealed some pretty eyebrow-raising details about what players can expect when the game finally lands. And surprise, surprise: it’s not all sunshine and Vice City palm trees.

The Headline: You Can Snort Cocaine “At Any Time”

According to the now-removed listing, GTA 6 will feature “frequent and prominent” drug use — and unlike previous entries in the series, players won’t be limited to lighting a bong in their apartment.

“Drug use is frequent and prominent with the player being able to partake in drug use with others and to use illegal drugs directly from their inventory. Most notably, cocaine can be carried around by the player and snorted directly from their hand at any time.”

That’s a first for the mainline series. Sure, GTA 5 and GTA Online had their share of optional bongs and booze, but those were confined to private spaces. Carrying hard drugs in your pocket and using them mid-mission? That’s a whole new level of immersion — and, predictably, a whole new level of controversy.

It’s worth noting that most GTA protagonists have historically been dealers, not users. Tommy Vercetti, CJ, Franklin — they moved product, they didn’t sample it. If the rating holds up, GTA 6 is flipping that script entirely.

Sex, Nudity, and “Fetishes” — Also Confirmed

The drug detail wasn’t the only spicy nugget in the PEGI description. The rating also corroborates earlier reports that GTA 6 may be the first game in the franchise to directly depict sex scenes.

“There are also strong sexual themes, including nudity, scenes of intercourse and occasional scenes of sexual fetishes. In various night clubs the player can also pay for private dances, during which, the game allows the player to move their hands onto the dancers’ breasts and buttocks.”

So yes — strip clubs are back, but with a lot more player agency this time around.

And Of Course, the Violence Is More Realistic Than Ever

If you were hoping Rockstar had softened its approach to on-screen bloodshed, think again. PEGI’s description notes that players can “harm all other characters inhabiting the environment” with a “high degree of realism,” including weapons that cause “detailed decapitation and dismemberment.”

Given how much Rockstar has bragged about GTA 6’s “re-engineered” weather system and next-level detail, gorier combat isn’t exactly shocking. Still, it’s a reminder that this is very much an adults-only affair.

What Does This Mean for the Game?

A few things:

1. The rating is real (probably). PEGI listings don’t just appear out of thin air, and the fact that it was deleted so quickly suggests someone jumped the gun.

2. GTA 6 is pushing boundaries harder than ever. Drug use, explicit sex, and hyper-realistic violence — this is Rockstar leaning all the way into its mature-rated roots.

3. Expect more backlash. With this level of content, we’re likely in for another round of the classic GTA moral panic. Retailers, politicians, and parent groups are probably already drafting their statements.

The Bottom Line

GTA 6 was always going to be controversial. But if this leaked rating is accurate, Rockstar isn’t just raising the bar — it’s setting it on fire and snorting a line off the ashes.

Whether that’s a selling point or a red flag depends entirely on where you stand. But one thing’s for sure: when GTA 6 finally drops, nobody will be calling it tame.
