Share Music In-App with Spotify’s New Messaging Tool

Spotify has launched a new in-app direct messaging feature called “Messages” that allows users to share songs, podcasts, and audiobooks with friends without leaving the app. To use it, users can share content via the “Now Playing” screen, and recipients can accept or decline the request and reply with text and emojis.

The feature is designed for people you already interact with on Spotify and is protected by industry-standard encryption, though Spotify notes it will scan messages for harmful content. It is intended to complement, not replace, existing social media sharing.

The rollout begins this week for free and premium users aged 16+ in select markets, initially only on mobile devices.
